Brief Description

From Long Lane we take a series of green lanes and pleasant field paths to the village of Nethergate, which is now on the western outskirts of Sheffield, before dropping down into the valley to cross the A6101 and the River Rivelin. We then start our climb, crossing the A57 (Snake Road) to gain the top of the escarpment on the southern side of the valley at Hallam Head. Now heading west, we follow the top of the wooded escarpment to the head of Wyming Brook near Redmires Reservoirs and follow the road for a short time to gain the conduit (leet) which we take over Hallam Moor. Then, we drop down over the moor to cross the River Rivelin once again, before ascending through fields to the minor road at Crawshaw Lodge, which we follow towards our parking spot.

Brief Description

The walk starts at Abbey Village and passes Roddlesworth, Earnsdale and Sunnyhurst Reservoirs, before going through woodland, then on to the moors towards Darwen Tower. Much of the early part of the walk is along the Witton Weaver's Way.

If the weather is kind to us we will get great views from the Tower. Whilst there is some climbing, this is quite gentle and gradual.
