Brief Description |
A predominantly rural walk, punctuated by reminders of the area's industrial past. The walk begins at the lake and takes in the pretty village of Ringley, to gain the towpath of the now disused Bury and Bolton Canal. Leaving the canal where it splits a path across fields at the confluence of the Rivers Irwell and Croal we reach the delightfully named Nob End! A woodland path which crosses the railway line takes us to the edge of a trading estate where we reach another woodland path. Bypassing Kearsley Power Station, a final path through woods allows us to parallel the Irwell to fields taking us back to the car park |
