Brief Description

This is a pleasant varied walk visiting the Frodsham & Helsby Marshes in the morning and Helsby Hill together with the Frodsham Escarpment in the afternoon with their extensive views over the Mersey Estuary. From the car park we descend through Frodsham and over the M56 to the marshes with their drainage ditches and wind turbines, easy walking here mainly on tracks towards Helsby. On reaching Helsby we start our steady ascent to the trig point on Helsby Hill, at 141m the highest point of our walk with its panoramic views. We then on descend to Covertside before commencing our final steep climb to Woodhouse Hiil and then we follow the escarpment along the Sandstone Trail back to the car park.
